About Me

Hi, my name is Kat, and I am addicted to trail running.

Well all running actually, but trail, and particularly mountain running is my passion. I am relatively new to this sport, but with every race, every trail, and every ridge line, the flame burns brighter - I just can't get enough. The more I run, the more that I want to run, and over longer distances and more challenging terrain. I am definitely not a very fast runner, but I LOVE setting massive (seemingly absurd) goals, and doing the mileage to finally achieve them.

Earlier this year I ran the Routeburn Classic, after setting that goal in late 2012. Now I want to add more distance, and have set my sites on some ultra distances. I love writing about my running adventures, as it keeps me focused and accountable. I can never read enough about how other runners achieve their goals, so I hope that my musings, provide some insight into how I reach mine - after all, achieving those mad goals is amazing, but so much of the fun is in the thrill of the chase.

Routeburn Classic 2013
This blog takes up where I left off in Chasing The Classic.  When I started my blog about my journey to running the Routeburn Classic, I wanted to provide the sort of information about training and trail running that I had been looking for as a complete amateur.  Along the way I got to run (and write about) some amazing races (just for training!) as well as explore some fantastic trails in different parts of New Zealand.  I wanted to leave Chasing The Classic as a bit of training log, in the hope that it might be useful and/or fill other runners with hysterical mirth at  my efforts.  Hence Thrill of the Chase was born.  I am really excited to see where running will take me next.  I have some outrageous running goals to try and achieve - here is to running.
